SilentiumPC Fera 5 CPU Cooler Review

Installation

When it comes to CPU coolers, one of the most critical aspects of their installation is having a good and easily understandable manual. With the SilentiumPC Fera 5, while the written instructions are pretty light (well, mostly non-existent due to them clearly wanting this to work in multiple countries with different languages) they have compensated for this by providing you with a number of excellent diagrams.

The pictures are well sized and, overall, as long as you follow it step-by-step, you shouldn’t go wrong here.

Mounting

The mounting system utilised within the Fera 5 will be instantly recognisable to anyone with any experience with SilentiumPC air coolers. Although the methodology isn’t intuitive or ‘standard’ for those of you with no experience with it to just march on ahead without once casting your eyes over the manual, it’s honestly pretty straightforward and, by and large, no better or worse than the majority of other installation methods out there.

Overall Thoughts

From out of the box and onto our test bench, the SilentiumPC Fera 5 took us roughly 10 minutes to install which, by air cooler standard, is about the usual amount of time. In terms of difficulty, as noted above, this is not the easiest we’ve encountered, but it is by no means difficult either. As such, if you are a novice to CPU cooler installation, we daresay that this won’t provide you with any problems. It’s honestly about as straightforward and (relatively) standard as it gets.

Once installed, it does look rather good. RAM compatibility is no issue here and, although not carrying any RGB, the black aesthetics with silver highlights on the radiator look very professional. As such, I see no reason at all why, aesthetically speaking, this couldn’t work in probably 99% of PC setups.

With it strapped onto our test bench, however, we now need to find out how it actually performs. So, let’s switch it on and grab some results!
