Silverstone SETA D1 Case Review

Build Quality

Silverstone has a strong reputation when it comes to build quality, something that stems from their experience with enterprise and server hardware. They typically build cases that are for practical applications rather than purely for aesthetic purposes. No glass? No problem, as not everyone wants to see what’s inside, and the thicker panel is strong, and is going to be more noise isolating.

I love how tight and snug every panel fits too, even the magnetic dust filter fits more snug and securely than most.

The side panels use captive screws, so they stay fixed to the side panel and you don’t lose them.

The PSU dust filter is huge, allowing for larger units to get good airflow; even the plastic mesh is nice and durable.

The front panel doesn’t have a removable dust filter, but foam and mesh protection that you’ll just need to brush or hoover out from the front. Or you can take the front off and blow an air compressor through it, either will work just fine. Behind that, you’ll find two pre-installed fans. However, it supports many configurations here, which we’ll get to shortly.

There are thick rubber grommets for all the motherboard cables, and plenty of other routing holes to play around with too. All have rolled edges and rounded corners, so cables will not get snagged. Plus, there’s a plethora of cable tie loops too.

The rear expansion slots all feature durable, reusable, ventilated metal covers. There are no thumbscrews, but that’s so they don’t conflict with the two vertical slots.
