Spire X2 6018 XMOD Chassis Review

The left side of the chassis features a custom shaped side panel window that offers a nice clear view of the chassis interior, to the right of that we have a vertical rectangle shaped area finished in high gloss black, this is simply a style touch and it does look good, although I fear it will attract a lot of dust.

The right side is a little less fancy and features a simple blank panel, both side panels are held in place by a pair of quick release thumb screws.

The front of the chassis features four ventilated 5.25″ drive bay covers, with a further one below that which supports small devices such as card readers.

The lower half features a raised curve, the Spire X2 logo and some funky blue strips that add a nice touch of colour to the front panel, this area also acts as the main air intake for any front mounted fans.

The top panel features a clip-on ventilated cover, this can easily be removed to gain access to the top fan mounts which support 2 x 120mm.

At the front of the top panel there is a nicely designed control panel, with a single USB 3.0, a pair of USB 2.0, microphone, headset, reset and power but most noticeable of all is a large dial for the internal fan controller.

Around the back we see there is a fan mount with support for 120, 90 or 80mm fans, but I’ve also just noticed that I’m supposed to have a 120mm blue LED fan pre-installed here, likely due to this not being a retail sample so I’ll let Spire off the hook on that one haha. Further down we have two cable / water routing holes and 7 ventilated and re-usable expansion slot covers.

The underside of the chassis features plenty of ventilation, never a bad thing and this will drive air towards you PSU dependent on its orientation.
