PerformanceFirstly, the comfort is pretty good. The headset sits well on the head and it has that feel similar to wearing old ear-defenders. More to the point they feel like tin cans on the side of your head, just a hell of a lot more comfortable – this in my view is a good thing.

The sound quality is fairly good, as you’d expect from a stereo headset from Steelseries. I was certainly very impressed with the bass as the frequency response has been stretched even further down allowing you to hear a nice 16Hz – perfect for those gunshots. Voice clarity is also very good with these, which is very good during games and the sound is certainly reproduced precisely. There is also a nice balance between bass and other frequencies, although the bass does lack some of the tone we’ve heard from other headsets.

The performance of the microphone seemed to be pretty good and there was some clear clarity over Skype conversations. As the microphone has quite a lot of flexibility it is easy to position the microphone in the perfect place so after a bit of trial and error you will be able to find the perfect place for the microphone to be for you. Unfortunately if you then retract the microphone you of course lose this setup. The microphone is a bit fiddly to retract, or at least the last few cm’s as it effectively locks into place. This does require both hands and a bit of twisting. It is also very hard to pull the microphone out without steadying the headset with the other hand.

For their size they are fairly good, but I have certainly heard better. The sound is precise and accurate but does lack some of the tone or warmth that other headsets can deliver. They do however look quite good and fairly authentic if a little rustic.
