Tesoro Lobera Spectrum RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Tesoro Lobera Spectrum is available from many major retailers, which are listed on the Tesoro website. UK stock is a little short at the moment, but with the keyboard only recently launching, I’d expect this to improve very soon. UK prices are said to be around £109, if you can find stock. In the US you can pick the keyboard up for $149.99 from Newegg.

Overview

I’ve been a fan of Tesoro for quite some time now and I’m happy to say that after having a play around with the Lobera Spectrum, I’m more of a fan than ever before. While this keyboard isn’t exactly innovative, it’s still a great product to use and it comes at a competitive price, if only by a tiny margin. Compared to offerings from Corsair and Razer, to name but a few, the Lobera is about $20-30 cheaper, although that may do little to have brand loyal fans moving over to Tesoro.

The performance on this keyboard is great, it’s a joy to work on, game on, or just for day-to-day desktop usage. The keys are quick and responsive and they’re surprisingly quiet for black switches.

Build quality is very good and while the keyboard does has a plastic frame, it feels durable and looks gorgeous thanks to the textured detailing. The mechanical switches will no doubt last you a lifetime and that thick braided cable is unlikely to fail anytime soon.

The RGB lighting is the only real improvement here. Does it make the keyboard fast, better, strong? Nope, but it’s still a very cool feature to have. I don’t much care for rainbows dashing across my keys, it’s too distracting, although it is a nice party trick. However, being able to dial in that precise shade of purple you love so much, is great for those who love to colour coordinate their desktop setup.

Pros

  • Good build quality
  • Fully mechanical and a choice of switches
  • Customisable RGB lighting
  • Extended chassis provides wrist rest
  • USB and audio pass-through
  • Slightly cheaper than competing brands
  • Good all-round performance.

Cons

  • Stock availability is sketchy in some regions
  • Pass-through cables result in a rather unwieldy hard-wired cable.

“The Tesoro Lobera Spectrum offers all the features you’re likely to need from a keyboard for day-to-day work and gaming, with the added bonus of gorgeous lighting effects. It’s also one of the most competitively priced fully mechanical RGB keyboards on the market.”
