Final Thoughts

Price

The Thermaltake Core P90 Tempered Glass Edition chassis is available from Amazon for £187.06. However, at the time of writing, it was on sale down to £159.95. That’s not cheap, but honestly, that’s a lot of chassis for the money too. It’s built for a niche market, and it’s designed for the enthusiasts out there, so overall, I think the price is pretty spot on for the market.

Overview

Straight away, I have to admit that this chassis is not for everyone, although I think that much is obvious. Heck, even I wouldn’t buy one, but that doesn’t mean to say that I don’t love it. It’s pretty big, so the number of people who will have a suitable place to mount it is going to be a little limited. Not so many people want an open-air chassis either, and as I said, it’s for a niche in the market. However, when it comes to building an enthusiast system and putting up on show in style, there’s not exactly a lot out there like it. Perhaps some of the stuff from InWin, but given this is a fraction of their prices, Thermaltake win that battle in a hurry.

Build Quality

No issues here, with all the hardware included, feels pretty robust. With thick metal, chunky screws, and thick paintwork, this chassis will take a beating, no doubt about it. I wouldn’t want to stub my toe on it anytime soon. Even the glass is pretty damn strong, at 5mm thick and tempered, it won’t break easily. The only downside is that even without hardware, it’s quite heavy, and the shape is odd, so moving it around can be a challenge.

Performance

With support for loads of hard drives, both 2.5″ and 3.5″, an ATX motherboard, eight expansion slots, ATX PSU and more, the P90 TG is every bit as capable as most chassis. However, it’s still bigger, and with a whole side to handle radiators, it’ll handle 480 or 420mm radiators. That’s a lot of cooling performance, and there’s plenty of room remaining to mount your pumps, route your tubing and more. No matter what you choose, air or water, it’s sure to look fantastic.

Should I Buy One

I would normally say “oh yeah, everyone should have one” or “hell no” but I really can’t with this one. I love the design, I love the build quality, the capabilities, and the price is impressive too. However, only you would know if you wanted one of these. It’s reasonably impractical, it’s pretty bulky, and it’s undoubtedly out there regarding aesthetics. However, it’s a brilliant product, and for a display chassis, you’ll struggle to find anything so funky for less money.
