Thermaltake Level 20 XT E-ATX Cube Chassis Review

Final Thoughts

How Much Does it Cost?

The Thermaltake Level 20 XT is available now from pretty much all major retailers. It’s priced at £200, which sounds like a lot of money (and it is), but I honestly think it’s an absolute bargain. Just in raw materials alone, I thought this chassis would have been more expensive. There’s a lot of tempered glass here, and a lot of steel, and that doesn’t come cheap. Also, consider this chassis is designed to house systems that could cost well into the many thousands. £200 on the chassis? It’s likely going to be the cheapest part of the build.

Overview

The new Level 20 XT from Thermaltake is an amazing chassis, to say the least. Ironically, I absolutely hate it! It’s big, it’s obnoxiously big, and it takes up so much room in the office, that the air pressure will change when I remove it. The chassis is so long, it wouldn’t fit under my desk without sticking out the front of it. It’s far too big to put on my desk, and it will need a window cleaner to keep it shiny.

But Wait…

Did I mention I also love it? It’s like owning an Elephant, sure it’s impractical, but it’s still going to be a laugh. If you have the space for it (most important aspect), and the budget to do it justice, the XT is untouchable. A chassis that huge for such a reasonable price is something to behold. The huge glass panels are like a museum display case ready for you to show off every single detail and angle of your expertly crafted system. Why invest in chrome water cooling fittings, RGB PSU cables, chromed screws, GPU backplates, or whatever crazy details you desire, if you can’t see them!

Build Quality

Definitely no issues here, it’s practically bomb proof. If Chuck Norris kicked this thing… it would break, but that’s a bad example. It’s got a robust internal framework, which will easily support the huge radiators and all the weight that comes with them. At 25KG unloaded, even our test system was pushing 30+ KG loaded. Add water and more hardware, you could see this hit 50KG even a 100KG at full capacity. The thick tempered glass, the built-in dust filters, and more, all add up to a solid package here.

Should I Buy One?

I honestly can’t recommend this to most people, it’s just too big and expensive for what most people need. The gorgeous Level 20 VT is half the price and half the size, and likely what most people want. However, if you’re attitude is “GO BIG OR GO HOME” then you’ll be hard pushed to find a bigger chassis, a more capable chassis, and even more so within a budget of £200.
