There are certain and isolated instances where power supplies simply do not like our testing machine. In our experience, this occurs in usually 5-10% of cases and we have never entirely determined exactly why this happens.
As you can see from prior power supply reviews we have conducted on Thermaltake products, the issue isn’t with the manufacturer or their products. As the saying goes, it’s just one of those things!
When this occurs, the only option that really presents itself to us is seeing how the power supply works in a practical setting. Since we have the disposal of a test-bench (used in our cooling product reviews) we therefore decided to hook it up to the system and put it through its paces.
So, how did it do? Well, the short answer is that despite it not liking our testing machine, it seemingly loved our test bench. Letting it run for nearly 2 hours on various performance benchmarks (so as to optimize the power draw on it) it never skipped a beat and provided some amazing RGB lighting effects!
The lighting effects to the Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 ARGB are truly excellent. Even if you don’t have an ARGB compatible motherboard, the manual controls offered to the rear of the power supply ensure you can get this running exactly how you want it!
The colors are nice, bright, vivid. Everything you want from RGB lighting. As you can see in the video below too, they offer an amazing range of effects!
