HyperX Alloy Origins RGB Mechanical Keyboard Review

How Much Does it Cost?

HyperX has gone all out on this new keyboard and it really shows. Their new switches are as good or (subjectively) better to use than Cherry MX Red. Cherry may be the go-to brand, but honestly, recent attempts to compete with them have given us many very competitive options. I haven’t tried the other colour variants from HyperX yet, but I aim to get some of them in to test ASAP. As for the reds though, highly recommend them.

Aluminium

The one thing this keyboard has a lot of is metal. The entire exterior is aluminium, and it looks and feels amazing. It gives the keyboard a nice quality feel, with a really nice weight that’s not too heavy to move around, but it doesn’t rattle or slight around when you’re angrily typing into game chat. The keyboard doesn’t flex or vibrate either, which in turn gives the switches a really tight and positive response.

RGB

Bold, bright and extremely vivid colours are on offer from the moment you power up this keyboard. It looks great with the lights off, but with the RGB lighting dialled in, it’s sure to satisfy your need for a rainbow lifestyle. The software and built-in controls do allow for per-key lighting too, or you can simply leave it on the effects, or even a single colour. Whatever you choose though, it’s going to look stunning.

Should I Buy One?

A new type of switch that’s as good or better than anything else out there. Aluminium construction that’s as good as physically possible, and looks and feels great. RGB lighting with all the features you could need, and some of the best colours I’ve ever seen from a keyboard. Yet it’s still around £40 cheaper than most other brands flagships!? Highly recommended!
