Kingston HyperX Genesis 2133MHz Memory Kit Review

A Closer Look
The memory comes supplied in the typical packaging from Kingston which displays a view of the modules themselves and includes a barcode stickerwhich doubles up as a security seal.

the barcode sticker label includes the model number and relevant facts about the memory including kit size, speed and CAS latency. This particular set of memory has a CAS latency of 9 and has the model number KHX2133C9AD3X2K2/4GX.

The memory belongs to the Genesis range and therefore has the heatspreaders to match. They are a off gold colour and have a slightly improved design compared to the older kits as they now include several ventilation holes.

The heatspreaders lock into place on each side, so they can’t be easily removed. Once a bit of gentle persuasion has been added to the mix, you can lift one side up and slide it off. The heatspreader includes the usual thermal pad to keep the memory chips cooled to the best ability.

The PCB is nothing too spectacular as Kingston have opted for a green board which obviously aids in keeping costs to a minimum.

The modules have memory chips on both sides and feature the following code; J1108BDBG and are made by Elipda.

The memory has a speed rating of DDR3-2133 (PC3 17000) and uses a voltage of 1.65V. It’s stock timings at the rated speed are 9-11-9-27 and as the memory is made for the Sandybridge platform, it does feature XMP profiles for easy installation and configuration.
