No Man’s Sky Playing Figures Show Massive Resurgence

Have they finally fixed this game?

Upon its initial release, No Man’s Sky was panned by practically everyone. The overwhelming feeling was ‘well… what’s the point of this?’. You would fly around space, endlessly collecting resources to attempt to accrue enough to get to the center of the galaxy just to be told (spoiler alert) that it was all pointless.

Since the initial shots, developer Hello Games has quietly (too quietly for some) been making efforts to turn No Man’s Sky into something better. An actual game!

No Man’s Sky playing figures are on the up!

When released, some people were so disappointed with the game they even attempted to sue the developer. The reception was that poor. Players felt that a massive bait and switch took place with content advertised not making the final cut.

The law suit was rejected, however, since then several patches have been released which have, in fairness, significantly improved the game. A story mode has been added which gives the game more of a purpose. In addition to this, ground vehicles and further base building aspects were added to flesh out the planet experience.

This was, however, after the ignominy of a ‘Desert Bus’ style fund-raiser where people played the game to raise money for charity.

is No Man’s Sky playable now? Or, more accurately, fun?

Initially, No Man’s Sky was one of the worst reviewed games on Steam and less than a month after release, simultaneous players dropped below 1,000 at any given point. Pretty pathetic figures.

Well, new data from Steam shows a massive improvement. At the time of writing this article, there is (was) 8,765 people playing No Man’s Sky. Much better than in previous months or even the month after its release!

It, therefore, may have taken a year, but No Man’s Sky is genuinely worth another visit. The galaxy isn’t quite as boring and empty as it once was.
