Nvidia 3080 Ti to Feature Crypto-Killing 3060 Tech?
Mike Sanders / 1 year ago
One of the biggest problems in getting a gaming graphics card at the moment, as a general consumer, is the fact that most of them are getting eagerly snapped up by cryptocurrency miners. There was, however, some hope given when it was revealed that the recently launched 3060 featured technology that would, hopefully, make it unviable for those particular consumers.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti
As you may recall, the 3060 has been touted as an ‘anti-mining’ graphics card due to limitations placed on several levels to practically half the hash rate production. The protections apparently lie within not only the drivers but also the graphics cards BIOS and systems firmware. As such, bypassing it should not, at least for the average consumer, be an easy task.
In something that will undoubtedly come as a pleasant surprise to many though, rumours suggest that Nvidia will also transition this technology onto the comparatively significantly more potent 3080 Ti.
What Do We Think?
Well, there are certainly more than a few caveats to this news. Firstly, this is currently just rumour, so take it with a grain of salt. Secondly, and this is perhaps the most important point, Nvidia has still yet to confirm the existence of the 3080 Ti. In fact, the last we heard of it was suggestions that based on the current overall chipset shortage, Nvidia had chosen to indefinitely delay it (probably until around August/September this year).
If this is true though, then (thank the Lord) we may finally have a top-spec GPU that is only going to be of any use to actual gamers! Something that, by proxy, may hopefully result in not only better availability, but perhaps something vaguely representing a sane price tag!
