Patriot Viper Black RGB 16GB DDR4 4133MHz Memory Review

A Closer Look

We’ve seen a few Patriot Viper memory kits pass out test bench over the years, and I’m glad to report this one looks like the last one. Why am I so happy it looks basically the same? Because the last ones looked awesome, that’s why! The main difference here, however, is that the last kit was white, and was also a lower speed. However, that stunning large aluminium heat spreader design remains.

Black PCB

The kit uses a black PCB with a powder black aluminium finish, giving them a super sleek finish. There’s a few indentations and patterns to the metal work. Like bead-rolling a metal sheet, these help keep the heatsink rigid, and it also looks great too. Plus, anything that increases the surface area can certainly help with cooling too. The black is broken up by a chrome finish Viper head logo in the middle.

RGB

The RGB modules are buried deep behind a thick frosted plastic band. This plastic strip will defuse the light for a more dynamic lighting effect. It’s five-zone lighting too, allowing for multiple patterns, transitions and effects to be programmed to the lighting. There are even some oversized wings on the top, further increasing the lighting surface area.

Overall, this is one sexy looking memory kit. Furthermore, I think it looks pretty slick even without the RGB lighting on. However, that matte black finish is going to make blending the kit into almost any system an easy task. Of course, it’ll also provide a nice contrasting background for the lighting too.

Installation

With the kit installed, the lighting sparks to life with some stunning vibrant colours and transitions. Of course, pictures speak a thousand words when it comes to lighting, so enjoy a few more pictures of the lighting in action below!
