Ducky 2108S Zero Keyboard Review

While this keyboard isn’t exclusively designed for gaming, there are many who feel that mechanical switches provide benefits to their gaming experience. I have to agree on this one and the Ducky Shine really does shine when playing games like Battlefield. executing rapid key strokes in the heat of battle when navigating proved flawless on this keyboard, the same can be said for League of Legends and my recent return to the land of Oblivion. Gaming is nothing but pure joy to the finger tips on this keyboard, but I attribute that more to the Cherry MX Switch than the keyboard.

One thing I do like is that the key caps don’t bottom out on the chassis of the keyboard, by which I mean they don’t hit the plastic chassis of the keyboard when fully pressed. This means that while the keyboard is still quite noisy compared to a membrane keyboard, it is not quite as loud as many other mechanical keyboard. The action this provides really helps you type much faster too, there is a great tactile response that is mostly due to the switch type, but plenty of credit for this goes to the chassis design and good quality key caps.

While gaming is a joy, it does lack any macro features that more serious RPG / MOBA players would like, but for more casual players you’ll find a lot of joy here. The real benefit however is in day-to-day use, and typing your Facebook status, writing emails, or typing out a two thousand word review as I am right now, are made easier on your finger tips and a more pleasant experience overall.

The dedicated volume keys are nice, but a few extra ones for multimedia control would have been better, even if they had to be on a function shift key.
