EVGA SuperNova 850 G5 Power Supply Review

Over Power Protection and Max Wattage

Despite this power supply being rated to 850w, it’s not unusual to find that they usually have a little extra wiggle room above that. You don’t, of course, want to rely on it too much and in instances where you push it too far, it’s important to know that the overpower protections work to cut-out the PSU before things start getting into dangerous territory.

So, in regards to the EVGA SuperNova G5, we can confirm that the OPP worked perfectly and, in addition, did not even trigger until the power supply reached 1128 watts. When you consider that this is around 25% (nearly 300w) higher than the rated level, this is very good!
