Fractal Design Ion+ Platinum 860 Watt Power Supply Review

Fan Speed

As this is a (relatively) high wattage power supply, you might be wondering how this does in terms of noise. The short answer is, amazingly well. Having a ‘zero-fan’ operation mode doesn’t see the fan kick in until at least 50-60% load and even then only hits a maximum of just over 600rpm while at full throttle.

With this mode switched off, the fan doesn’t even deem it necessary to operate under you start pushing it (system-wise) a little. Even then, however, with again, low fan speeds, you’ll almost certainly never notice this running amongst all the noisier components in your PC.
