ASUS Announces ROG STRIX GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and GTX 1080 Ti TURBO

As most of you might know, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is a reality and now we get a glimpse of the first custom cooled version of the card. ASUS has shown their versions of Nvidia’s latest flagship consumer card with the GeForce GTX1080 Ti TURBO (TURBO-GTX1080TI-11G) as well as the ROG themed GeForce GTX 1080 Ti STRIX (ROG-STRIX-GTX1080TI-O11G-GAMING).

The Turbo card, pictured on the left in the picture above, is ASUS’ budget-oriented blower type cooler. Cards from the TURBO series are always equipped with boards based on the reference design, but they feature ASUS’ own cooling solution instead of the reference cooling solution.

The STRIX version is ASUS’ ROG divisions take on the new GPU and it is a fully designed by ROG rather than using the reference design. The shroud is LED illuminated and features the Auto-Extreme and Super Alloy Power II technologies. The triple-fan DirectCU III cooling solution should keep the card cool and silent and it also features a backplate to increase the stability and aid the cooling.

According to VideoCardz, these two new cards seem to feature the same speeds and settings out of the box as the Founder edition does, but that’s unconfirmed so far. So, we have the GP102 GPU with 3584 cores, 224 TMUs, and 88 ROPs. The GPU base clock is set to 1480 MHz and the Turbo is 1582 MHz while the 11264 M GDDR5X memory is clocked at 1376 MHz. Even if they’re clocked the same out of the box, it’s clear that the better cooling solutions will allow you to overclock them better yourself.

Pricing on the new cards wasn’t announced yet, but the TURBO card should cost about the same as the Founder Edition: 699 USD. We can probably add another 100-150 for the STRIX model due to the improved design and cooler.

Will you be upgrading to a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, are you waiting for AMD’s Vega, or are you happy with what you got now? Let us know in the comments.
